From the massive open-world Gotham City to the fluid, Arkham-style combat, it gets almost everything right. But there is a massive catch that ruins the experience for a lot of players: the multiplayer. In this video, I break down why LEGO Batman Legacy of The Dark Knight gameplay is a near-perfect masterpiece in single-player, but an absolute mess when it comes to co-op. Between the complete lack of online co-op and some seriously rough performance drops and lag during split-screen couch co-op, TT Games omitted the one feature that would make this LEGO game iconic. State of Decay 3 was announced nearly six years ago, but the latest news confirms what many of us feared: the game basically didn't exist when that first trailer dropped. With an alpha playtest finally coming in May, we’re getting a look at the real reason development has taken this long, and it’s a frustrating look at how Xbox handles its marketing and studio communication. In this breakdown, I’m digging into the recent interview with Philip Holt where he admitted State of Decay 3 was essentially a "Word document" and a pre-rendered concept by Blur Studio back in 2020. We also talk about the "No Zombie Deer" reveal, the reality of most of the Undead Labs team being stuck on State of Decay 2 updates, and why Xbox needs to stop pushing "simulated gameplay" for titles like Fable and Perfect Dark that aren't ready for the spotlight. The Development Reality The Word Document Reveal Philip Holt confirmed there wasn't even a full team when the announcement trailer was released. It was a concept, not a game. Where is the Team? A major part of the delay comes down to priorities. Most of the studio has been focused on State of Decay 2 updates for the last few years, leaving the sequel as a secondary project for a much smaller group.
