They actually did it. God of War Laufey is officially here, and it is everything I was hoping for and then some. From the casting to the moment-to-moment gameplay, Santa Monica Studio absolutely nailed the execution.
In this video, I break down my initial impressions of the game, focusing on the two things that completely stole the show:
- The Perfect Casting: Deborah Ann Woll completely commands the screen as Laufey. Her performance brings the exact depth, strength, and nuance the character deserved.
- The Combat System: If you were worried about how her fighting style would feel compared to Kratos, don't be. The combat is fluid, impactful, and distinct, proving the devs knew exactly how to make her toolkit feel uniquely powerful.
